I have been a resident at Oakwood for several years. I have seen a major decline in the apartment community with Oakwood maintenance, general contractor property management and tenants. The outside appearance of buildings are dirty with green substance, leaves, webs, mold on siding and windows. The grounds and parking lots are unkept, there is trash(used diapers, bags of trash, cans, cigarettes, used personal items) and debris everywhere. I have lived here for some years. In the beginning it was peaceful and clean. Now, it is filthy(broken down, tagless cars, grocery carts everywhere dumpsters overflowing) and lots of disturbances. I, along with several neighbors, have notified Mebane Police Department on MULTIPLE occasions because of witnessing verbal alercations, violent physical fighting that involved knives/stabbings, communicating threats, and gun violence. I feel it is important to share my experience regarding this apartment community so that others can make an informed decision before considering living here or even visiting. Based on what I have personally witnessed while visiting a resident, the overall condition of the property is extremely poor. The grounds appear neglected, maintenance issues seem to go unresolved, and there is a general lack of care for the environment that tenants are expected to live in. The current on-site management needs immediate attention from the property’s ownership or corporate office. Over the past several months, I have experienced multiple issues that have made it extremely difficult to communicate or resolve basic concerns.On several different occasions, I have gone to the office during posted business hours and the manager was either not present or refused to speak with me. Terrible. They will not notify you if there is a rent change and THEN try to charge you. They will give you an end date and state in civil suit your lease was terminated a month before the actual date. People using drugs in parking lot kids running around and nothing ever gets addressed. Roaches galore as well. Better off applying elsewhere folks.
