My physical therapist McKenzie Pert performed my initial evaluation after my arthroscopic hip surgery, and I was very happy with her care. I sought physical therapy treatment at this facility for TMJ pain and was assigned to Hiroshi Kiyota, PT. My experience was extremely disappointing and ultimately unacceptable. He arrived late to every single appointment. Each session is scheduled for only 30 minutes—already far shorter than the standard at most physical therapy facilities. I live a considerable distance from their Orthopedic Center, and each visit required a three-hour round trip. NYU Langone Orthopedic Center is by far one of the best healthcare facilities in North America, let alone NYC! 5 stars for the doctors and 0 stars for the incredibly rude front desk staff on the 5th floor. Honestly they assume you know the “rules” about checking in and making following up appointments and any questions about what to do or when to do it is met with harsh rebukes, like I’m making such an imposition for asking questions. The entire team seems to be trained in this disrespectful manner and it makes the experience so much harsher than it needs to be. Dr Bendo’s surgery was great but one of his NP’s, Samantha, does not understand the actions or side effects of certain medications so I advise not to deal with anyone other than Dr Bendo. Also the physician and hospital billing departments (actually more like a HS yearbook club) can not generate bills that are not denied, usually for math errors, so demand complete records.
