I visited NYU Langone on 38th Street today for surgery on my left elbow. While the initial experience at reception was disappointing—the security/receptionist were quite rude and unenthusiastic—it would be beneficial for them to receive some customer service and empathy training, especially since patients coming in for surgery are often feeling nervous. Terrible treatment from the secretaries on the 5th floor. One of the girls, Sumaiya Aktar i believe is her name, has on occasion called patients stupid. She would make fun of them infront of other patients, it is emberassing. She even made one girl cry. I asked other patients in the waiting area and they had the same experience They use the kiosk to avoid any contact with her. I struggled with golfer’s elbow for over a year due to starting to playing tennis in my 40s and developing a small tear. Heartless and cold staff. My wife arrived 3 minutes passed the allowed grace period For an appt and they recorded the time exacrly. Was then asked to wait for 3 hours because of this. My wife was in a walking boot and traveles from an outer boro for this crucial appt to her health. The people that work here are sociopathic to put someone through this much struggle to be seen regarding a chronic autoimmune diaease. This is not a first time visit. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A nurse named Dennis was very kind, and helped my to my Uber ride after my procedure.
