Imagine making it to the ER after being hit by a speeding bike. Pain in the leg, bleeding arm and after a superficial pat-down, "no x-ray needed." Days later we insisted with a decent doctor there and the x-ray showed fracture in the femur, requiring hospitalization - elsewhere, of course! Bad staff who endangered by being poorly trained and not able to listen and observe.
As hospitals go in this area, NYU Langone is the best. However, the emergency department has a lot of wiggle room in the improvement department. The assignment of ER staff to patient and the assignment of beds leads to a great deal of confusion and the possibility of error is the patient is not able to advocate for his/ herself or have someone there to do that for them. Has become horrible. Labs mix up orders. Surly employees. Hospital itself is hideous noisy and dirtym
The daytime staff is amazing. The night shift is awful. Nothing but loud, gossiping and joking at night by the nurse staff while patients are trying to sleep and recover. 11East is a nightmare. My relative had signed out on her own before being discharged by the doctor because the conditions on the floor during the evening were deplorable. The doctors are amazing. Top notch. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. Everyone is so nice & friendly. Here, no one cares if you're black or white, Republican or Democrat. Everyone is your equal.
NYU is the Best hospital and has the best staff. Friendly, warm, compassionate and informative staff makes a difficult and painful situation so much easier to handle.
