Dr. Nyholm recommended that my dad have a kidney biopsy because his creatine level was slightly elevated. Dr. Nyholm didn't taken into consideration that my dad's blood pressure was TOO high to even have a kidney biopsy. My dad had the biopsy at North Memorial and was DEAD six weeks later. The procedure was NOT explained as if there would be a chance of death. Dr. Nyholm didn't do a thing to help my dad. He was NOT a candidate for a biopsy. So sad!!! Always get a second opinion.
Had me on a high dosage of Prednisone for a year, I asked him many times if it could possible be "another diagnosis". treatment didn't work so he referred me to Mayo, . the doctor knew what it was before he even looked at me from just my lab history at Kidney specialist of MN. Guess what? It was the other diagnosis that I thought it was....... GRRRRR a nice long term run with prednisone and just to find out it wouldn't have helped me. Not a good listener.
