Not the friendlist place – I was not happy at all with my experience at the Birthplace. I heard from others about the nurse's and staff but I went with Salem Hospital anyways. It was the only hospital my doctor was affiliated with. I loved my doctor and didn't want to lose out on having him deliver my baby. I had my first child in Virgina. I had a wonderful experience. Never Again – I had my daughter there in July of 2010. They had my mom waiting in the waiting room from 10 in the morning and KNEW she was there but still didnt feek the need to tell her that I was pushing. My mom didn't even hear about the baby untill about 8:30 when i had the baby at 7:08pm. The nurses were rude to me and my boyfriend. After everything they had me push that button that rings the lullaby through the hospital at about 9pm!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE – My daughter had her 2nd child at the birthplace in Salem Massachusetts in late March of 2009. Her entire stay she felt rushed, neglected and like a nuisance. I got a phone call from her in the very early morning hours asking me to come pick her & my grandson up to go home. I did just that. She was released early, thank goodness. I can understand the stress the nurse's have but in my opinion if they didnt want to be nurses they should have chosen a different profession. We all lead stressful lives... read more
DONT HAVE YOUR BABY THERE PLEASE LADIES – Ladies don't have your babies at The Birthplace. The nurses were cold, bothered by us and had no bedside manner. The labor & delivery nurse went about the room doing her business even as I had huge painful contractions. I had to use my own diapers ask for bottles for my newborn. I was provided four 2 oz bottles and when that ran out it seemed like a bother for them to get me more.. even when I asked they gave me JUST ONE 2 oz bottle. Don't Have Your Babies Here – I had both of my children at the Birthplace at Salem Hospital and I am kicking myself for going back a second time. During my 1st visit in 2003 the nurses were extremely and unnessarily rude. Well, my doctor broke my water to move my labor along (which made me highly suseptable to germs). Just after that, the hospital moved a woman with the flu into my room. She was getting a routine test and didn't need to be checked in, in my opinion.
