Chef Marco Fregonese, along with his wife Elizabeth and sister-in-law Gina, serve fresh and hearty Northern Italian cuisine with care and feeling at this Gramercy restaurant. Guests are greeted with food on the table almost instantly, a touch that hungry patrons appreciate. Try the homemade pastas such as ravioli with porcini mushrooms, or one of several seafood dishes including Tuna Carpaccio. The wine list is attractive for both the choices and price.

Deafening and overpacked – If you want a restaurant where you can talk to your tablemates, forget this place. The noise level is deafening and I've never been to a restaurant where they packed more tables together so tightly. The food was pretty ordinary and I. can't imagine ever going back. The owner stopped by our table to ask how everything was. My husband said okay and was about to tell him how overcrowded it was, but he turned away. I had pasta with artichokes and shrimp and it was completely bland.
Great Food – My boyfriend and I come here very often since it is located just a few blocks away from my apartment. I'm extremely picky when it comes to food and I absolutely love the food here. The only issue is, the restaurant is extremely crowded. Being that it is a small place, each table is on top of one another, offering no privacy. I feel like I'm having dinner with the couple next to me. All in all - good food, crowded space.
WOULD NEVER GO AGAIN! – I had clients coming in to town and made reservations for them (party of 10) in the large table 2 weeks in advance, and then confirmed the reservation day-of. and even held it with my credit card. When my party arrived they were asked to wait over 30 minutes and then were denied the table because another party of "regulars" came in and were given the table. They were so frustrated at the terrible service they left and went up the street to a different restaurant. They won't have many more "regulars" i... read more

I was looking for a decent variety of food and I found it here. The atmosphere was very nice and quiet and the service was great. They did not hover over me but were available at the turn of my head as if it was anticipated. What a pleasure – Novita has some of the most delicately prepared Italian food in NY. The way the simple dishes are developed to full sophistication is masterful. I have been there with clients of mine, girlfriend, and by myself and I have always had a very pleasant experience. The whole staff is courteous and prompt and the wine by the glass selection is excellent and reasonably priced. Thank you for being there.
