Wow, what an experience! Manuel and Marta went above and beyond. It was my first time dining here; to celebrate my mother’s birthday. And I must say the food was delicious from the appetizers to the desserts. One of the best Portuguese restaurant in the DMV. 10/10
Highly recommended! The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are better than reasonable. They offer a 3-course option that is recommended if you want to try an appetizer and a desert, my husband ordered from that menu both times. On our second trip, I got the grilled octopus (not an option for the 3-course bundle) and it was the best octopus I’ve had (my husband tried it and agrees). A fantastic hidden gem! Went recently for a date night and were blown away by the quality of the food and how reasonable the prices were. Manuel, who has operated the establishment for 44 years, recommended a modification to the bacalau, which was fantstic. Had both the bacalau the Nova Europa seafood stew and paired with a very good Alvarinho white wine. Highly recommended!
Went to Nova to celebrate Father's Day and was sorry to learn they didn't have the usual early bird offering. That said, the food was a HUGE disappointment: (1) The veal was as thin as a dime (ok, maybe a quarter in keeping with the inflated menu prices); (2) the vegetables consisted of a sauteed medley of what seemed to be leftovers from the day before, and which were mushy and tasteless; (3) the menu indicated the veal was to be served with potatoes, but it was actually served with some kind of rice, again tasted like left... read more
