My favorite part was when I had a medical emergency that involved a seizure of some sort and left with spinal injuries that have left me permanently disabled by a security guard who thought I was faking it. Not to mention the reports I tried to make that weren’t filed. But then suddenly security guards got fired for “sleeping on the job.” I was told I was anxious and have been labeled inappropriately to the point where I can’t receive treatment at any hospital. The ER staff is absolutely rude!! This is the slowest ER we have ever been to! We sat for 6 hours without even being seen. We ended up leaving. My stepfather was in excruciating pain, throwing up. He couldn't even stand. When my stepfather asked the nurse how much longer it would be, she yelled at him. Told him to call her cutie or sweetie instead of lady. Absolutely ridiculous!! Nurse who brought me back to my room at the ER was rude. Left after that experience. When the first person you interact with in the ER is super rude, it sets the tone for the rest of the visit.
Our experience with Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital was extremely disappointing. We came seeking medical care and left questioning whether patient needs are being prioritized appropriately. After being referred to the emergency room, we waited in the ER waiting area for more than six hours before receiving meaningful attention. Emergency room, the worst of the worst, waiting hours in the emergency room, seeing patient after patient that arrived after us being sent back, and we were still not seen by anyone. I understand acuity but the fact that the whole waiting room became empty and they still kept calling pts in that came after us is ridiculous.
