m young and I work 2 jobs. I went in between work so I could get my antibiotics to avoid any downtime in my schedule. what a mistake. The nurse was absolutely horrible. She was condescending and rude. There was no one in the office and her priority was hanging out with the staff. I was there for a simple sinus infection and just need antibiotics to avoid it settling in my lungs. “We [#NWSHIdaho] did more damage to this patient than good.” A fine synopsis by one of the medical staff at Northwest Specialty Hospital. They are, or more accurately WERE, a 5 star hospital specializing in elective surgeries ; offering gourmet meals (no longer available) and top notch care (including saline bags that were 6 months out of date, expired; and injecting an incorrect medication into the feed tube which began to crystallize immediately in the tube, not a good sign and a possible code blue had it not been noticed... read more

In terms of medical care it was top tier, I have/had every confidence in the ability of my surgeon Dr Duke. I was well taken care of and all the nurses were very nice as well. Two downsides: first is a personal opinion but I think considering someone to be "too young" for a hysterectomy is a very outdated model of thinking and can cause harm to patients who would benefit greatly from having one. I had a Roux-en-Y procedure about two years ago at this hospital. It was through the holidays and there was a slight mix-up in exactly what type of diet I was supposed to have been on immediately afterwards and was given some of the wrong things. That being said, Dr. Pennings was great; experienced and knowledgeable, and though his bedside manner may not be so good, he still understands your needs and how to fix it. It is awesome to have a choice other than KMC to receive medical treatment. North West Specialty Hospital is well above par in both its facility and quality of care. My husband has received quality care for a Disk replacement in his neck and most recently a knee replacement. Both experiences have been nothing but exceptional! My one complaint and I do hope this is taken seriously, is the complete lack of comfort in the main waiting room. I had ORIF on my right leg. All of the staff were extremely friendly and personable. They made sure my pain was managed and were always asking if I was ok or if I needed anything. I have never had a better hospital experience in my life. I will only use NWSH in the future! Highly recommend!!

This was by far the best experience I have had with a hospital. Amazing staff that make you feel at home and well cared for. My sister and I felt like we were on a mini vacation, even had soft serve ice cream! My surgery went well and I am thrilled with my care! Thank you to all the doctors, Medical assistants, nurses, food servers, and administration! Class act and a well oiled machine! 5 stars and the moon if I could !
