I fell and injured my foot. I had swelling and ecchymoses and was fairly certain I broke my foot (I am a retired MD). The PA was very pleasant but he missed the fracture and did not ask for a radiology read. I was given a protective sandal and had to ask for crutches. I was not surprised when I was called the following day informing me that my fifth metatarsal was in fact fractured. Why was no MD involved with my care the night of the injury?
