Grease Pit & Water Chowder – I visted this restaurant back in 94 and it provided great service and great food at cheap prices. Well it's 2002 and the service is not that great, except the wait staff will hard sell you out of ordering the broiled lobster - why? There tiny!!! Anyway the prices went up and the food is either overcooked or way to greasy. And the killer - the chowder - the chowder at No name was chunky and thick, now it's chunky with shells and a nice layer of grease ontop of the chowder that has the consistency ... read more
yuck – Fried food and nothing but. DOn't have a clue why so many people love this grease pit. Food isn't that great, selection very limited, sit with strangers at your table and no view.
No Good Restaurant – I ate at the No Name Restaurant a year ago and was extremely dissapointed. The food was sub-par, the atmosphere was diner-esque, and the service was strained. I know good seafood. . . "No name" is no good.
The BEST – Best Chowda ever. It's a fish chowda that can be eaten as a meal alone. Lot's of fish, chowda isn't packed at all with any thickening agents. Their chowda is better than any I have tasted in Boston and I have lived here for 25 years!
AWFUL! Not worth the hype! – I have heard hype about this restaurant for years. The food was AWFUL and overpriced, the staff was slow and rude, and the ambiance was awful. Save your money - go to Legals@
The shame of Boston – Jeez, what a skeezy tourist trap this is! Gross fried seafood, disgusting chowder, chalky french fries, a dirty dining room, and a staff that seems hygeine- as well as manners-impaired. I wouldn't put my name on it, either.
Terribly disappointing – I agree with the reviewer who said that all the positive advertizing/reviews in the world can't make up for the lack of quality and sheerly awful food. We made an adventure out of the evening by thinking we were 'wandering off the beaten path' a bit, but please don't be mistaken by the reviews of those who've apparently never had good seafood. To the No Name's credit though, the waitstaff was wonderful - a truly friendly bunch.
Authentic & Delicious – The food is delicious. The staff couldn't be nicer. The restaurant is situated on the historic fish pier. You can watch the fishermen bring their catch ashore while you eat!
deep six this place – Lot's of advertising will get you there but the place is a bit too earthy (dirty) for my tastes. The broiled fish was over cooked. Unforgivable for a fish restaurant. The fries were not crisp and service was only fair. Not the worst restaurant in Boston but far from the top ten cheap eats!
