Dr Nieves has been my doctor for several years, in fact, since he opened his practice in Davenport, FL. He has been ill and on leave and at this time he only has a NP in his office who is not able to prescribe all the medications I take. I wish Dr. Nieves the best and that he recovers successfully quickly, but during his illness if they don't have a regular doctor who picks up his patients who have multiple conditions, he is going to lose them all. Dr. Nieves has been my doctor for several years. He is the most caring and compassionate doctor. He takes his time with each patient and truly cares to help. He is kind and very educational. He has helped me understand my chronic condition and assisted in managing it. Prior to my diagnosis and meeting Dr. Nieves, I saw 40 doctors and specialists. This practice is going from bad to worse! There is a new process to reach someone in the office and it clearly does not meet the patients’ expectations. They are not EVER answering the calls, they go to an answering service where someone, anyone anywhere within the United States, answers and takes a message. First, they can be anywhere and not familiar with the areas, the names and one has to spell everything for them. Dr. Nieves is one of the most knowledgeable, passionate, caring doctors that I have ever had. I hear people complaining about having to wait however I can guarantee you that when it is finally your turn, your worries and stress will vanish. I detest waiting. Waiting to see this man is worth every minute. He takes his time with each patient. He is wonderful in so many ways. Very knowledgeable and caring. Tries to get all of your medical history and more. Listens to you. You are not rushed. On the other hand not really a business man. Puts too much on his plate and hence forgets things such as referrals, new issue scheduling and submitting prescriptions(some of them not updated to new, existing or deleted meds.
I have multiple health issues. Dr. Nieves takes the time to listen to your concerns and answers your questions to the best of his abilities. He is multitalented in his profession and is knowledgeable in several fields of medicine. The wait can be long as staff is in transitional state. But the wait is a simple reason- he isn’t rushing his patients out the door in 15 minutes. So- if you want a doctor who will listen and care for you, then he is your “go to” physician. The doctor is excellent and it used to be nice to go to see him EVEN if you had to wait hours. There are new members of the staff who are not friendly, they are rude and hardly let you speak, verbalizing their “script” instead of listening to the patient’s concern. Dr Nieves never fails to impress me. As a Registered Nurse of 40 years, i admit i am critical of doctors at times. I am married to a man with complicated medical history and want only the best for him. I am so thankful to have found Dr Nieves., a practitioner i trust with our lives…literally. Horrible. I cannot recommend this doctor and am going to be switching doctors. I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this office. I have been going here for the past year and a half and ALWAYS there for OVER 2 hours waiting but his office does not seem to be busy. The last visit was OVER 4 hours and we never saw the doctor, only the practitioner.
