#1 in STL – Niche has found it niche as the best restaurant in St. Louis. The interior design is sophisticated and contemporary with a casual elegance. The cusine is new American -- fresh farm to table. Gerard Craft and his staff deliver a cosmopolitan experience with superb quality and care. Love it!!
Wonderful food, excellent service – Went there last month on a Thursday evening. The food was absolutely divine (the scallops and side dishes were to die for!) our waitress was wonderful, very attentive - we will be back. Only disappointment is that they don't do lunches at Niche restaurant itself- they have a casual bakery next door though.
Urban Eatery in Cozy Benton Park – I've eaten at many of the recommended restaurants listed on this site from Eleven Eleven Mississippi, Sydney Street, and Vin De Set, and I would put Niche right up there. If you're looking for some place to be romantic, go the extra block or two to Sydney Street. Niche is very urban and in my opinion, very congested. There is not too much of a bar there to wait until being seated. In fact, you might get knocked over by the door as it opens. However, the bartenders are wonderful, insightful,... read more
Not a Good experience – Not a good experience at all. Atmosphere was decent, but the tables are jammed together and there is almost no privacy. I had the Halibut, and it was like eating card board. No flavor at all. Also, my date had the ribeye steak. First off, I dont know how you serve ribeye as and entre, and secondly, it was flat and flavorless as well. Also, it ended up being way too pricey. I had high expectations, but it ended up being a huge disappointment.
Should have gone to Sidney Street – We were celebrating our anniversary and this is not a romantic restaurant. The tables are lined up and very close together. It is extremely loud. We were seated in front of a large group and told it might take awhile to get to us. I told the hostess this was a worry. She moved us and took our order. My Halibut had no flavor. It was unimpressive and so disappointing for a special night out. This restaurant is over priced. My husband's steak was good as was the chocolate dessert but nothing ... read more
The worst service I have ever experienced and a egocentric arrogant owner to boot! – Niche (not nice). Probably the worst service I have ever received as a world traveler and market researcher. The waitress did not make eye contact or conversation once. She did not describe the dishes or specials. She barely uttered the words, "Are you ready to order?" After trying to thank her, compliment the food, ask a simple question to no avail, we finally gave up. My partner and I decided not to tip (which was a first in our lives) We ... read more
Loved it – My husband and I went to Niche for a Romantic evening and that's just what we got. Service was Awesome. The food was unique but still familiar, and very delicious-- our beef & fish dishes were cooked just right. The desserts are heavenly! Ambiance & decor is classy and subtle. The crowd is classy and calm. A very stylish place but not in your face. And, visiting restaurants nestled in historic neighborhoods like Benton Park is always a treat.
Good food, excellent service, nice ambiance – We had reservations for 6 pm on a Friday night. We were seated right away although the place did get quite busy while we were there. The wine was great. The food was presented very nicely and overall was good, but was just a tad blah, it needed just a little something more. I had the halibut and my boyfriend had Niche steak and corn risotto. Our server was very attentitive and the restaurant had a very nice ambiance. The meal was pricey, but for that type of restaurant it was exp... read more
Great food! – Excellent wine list, amazing homeade pasta... delicious all a round. We enjoyed the 3 for $30 and enjoyed scallops, goat chesse, filet, their homeade pasta, and desserts. Amazing dinnner.
