I guess you pay a premium for being on the water in Riverplace, but the price sure was not even close to worth the poor service and marginal food. Inattentive waitperson when asked twice for a condiment replied "we are really busy" when half the tables on the deck were empty and then dropped it on the corner of the table without a word a few minutes later. Not worth the price – It was supposed to be a very fine restaurant and well, to begin the tablecloth was plastic, I felt I was on a bench in the park on a picnic, paying more than $ 20 for my meal. The service was more or less, but the food was very fried, and the portions small, if you like fries perhaps because the dish was filled with pure fries. Come for the location, stay for the crab cakes – Ok let me just say that if we come here again, we are getting nothing but piles of crab cakes. These are probably the best crab cakes I have ever had, and I love crab cakes in general. My wife & I had our 10th anniversary dinner here with our two small children in tow. Seriously? – Ok, I had a long scathing review written but decided to call the restaurant and complain first. Here is a summary of our experience: - 20+ minutes before we were even acknowledged after sitting, 20+ more minutes before drinks arrived, and a minimum of 20+ more minutes and having to physically stand in front of waitress to get our order placed. Newport Bay has good seafood – The seafood is good, but the quality is not always consistant. Sometimes when we have gone, it has been excellent. Other times, it has been ok. Overall, I still think that it is a good restaurant. The atmosphere is good...great family place.

40 minutes for waitress to take our order – The setting is nice, being right on the water. The food was average, no bread served with our dinner. We had to ask the waitress three times for some sugar for our ice tea. We went before a play hoping to have time to enjoy dinner before the play. We sat for 40 minutes before our order was taken,. Best meal I've had in ages – We sat outside which is always nice. Food and drinks arrived in a timely manner. Waiter was informed on each dish. Only negative was my blackened salmon was a bit too salty but otherwise very delicious. All my friends loved their meals, too.

Good food, good location – The location on the river is a fun treat. Be sure to get validations for the parking garage. Some of the food is a bit too salty for my tastes, but overall pretty good. The service is efficient and friendly.
