Sometimes I greet the staff with a “hello“ or “how are you tonight?” I may not be acknowledged at all. I am ignored. When this happens, it makes me feel awful. It makes me feel like an object, a job, not even a person. I do have feelings.
There is little sensitivity to my loved one’s physical incapacitation. He has been told that “You ask too much”. “You ask for the impossible.” “I am not going to spend all night in this room.”
My loved one is often disrespected. The nurse and the aides have ganged up on him on many, many occasions. Bullying a quadriplegic with a brain injury is downright disgusting! If your loved one has a special need, think twice about this place.
