Aside from the fact that my second abuser had almost killed me before I was placed in a safe space, my experience navigating the domestic violence support system was anything but average. I don’t recommend anyone coming to the Claire Shelter. The staff are all rude and they play like they care for you and they really don’t! They treat clients like they are nothing! These are not ppl of good service run!
This place doesn't help mothers who have been abused by their partner. If this place helped mothers, why are so many women dying by their partners. This place take forever to help the women who have been abused and the women give up after cause there's no real help for them in New Orleans La.
When I was assaulted, I had to ask the police for resources and they didn't send an informed officer. The only resource given was the family justice center. I called them and they asked if I was hospitalized. I said no, I was not. After that, she basically told me to go away. Instead of telling me my options, she asked ME what I wanted, and then told me the wait list for counseling was 2 months long.
