Interesting place, nice people. Interesting architecture and grounds.
It was my first time to visit the Firemens Home, the personnel were warm and good , food was great and the entertainment was amazing , I was able to witness their christmas program which was sponsored by Monmouth County Firefighters Association , I could see the faces of the audience were very happy , I enjoyed watching the show with the Pettes sister's Act , I love the food ,thanks for the chef , I enjoyed looking the stuff at the museum and I enjoyed talking to some people at the home . My dad was here until his passing. We agonized as to where to put my dad as my mom had passed and he was struggling at home by himself. We were steered here. What an outstanding facilty. The staff was incredible. They treat each and every one of these guys like family. If you are the family of a retired fireman, rest assured, this is the absolute best facilty out there. We will never forget the kindness and respect you showed my dad. To the staff here, God bless each and everyone of you.
My Dad has started a new chapter in his life this week at the New Jersey Firemen's Home. After many sleepless night worrying about him and seeing him become a shell of his former self, my fears and concerns were put to rest the minute we walked through those doors. From the Administrator to the Doctors & Nurses, the Aids, Activities Director and the faculty walking the halls...their kind words, smiles and warm welcome was such a comfort. My Uncle Bill served as a fireman in River Edge, NJ for 40 years. At the end of his life he lived in this wonderful home for about a year and a half. Our family is so grateful for the wonderful care he received here.
