New Beacon Hospice in Trussville came into our lives during November 2017. My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and wanted to die at home. We couldn't have asked for a more caring, considerate and dedicated nurse. She became like one of the family. The Chaplain was understanding and helped my husband enormously with spiritual issues. Very disappointed in New Beacon. Upon my mom's discharge from the hospital they did not meet us as planned at her home to help her inside. After waiting half an hour we managed to move her inside ourselves with difficulty. After an hour, the NB truck finally showed up with a wheelchair. Mom was in the final stages of cancer, but the day before she died, a NB nurse assured us that her vitals signs were strong and that she might regain consciousness. My husband was had New Beacon Hospice and they were wonderful!!! He had Cancer, copd, & emphysema and we couldn't have had a more sensitive group of caring and compassionate professionals. We couldn't have had better care during these highly emotional times. God Bless
Do not use this hospice for your loved one! This was the worst experience. When death was near, I asked that the nurse come talk to the family members about what to expect and was told in was in the book . The nurse was insensitive after the passing of my best friend of 30 years, who was more like my sister. I have been a nurse for 28 years and know what is acceptable and this certainly is not.
