A great find – I had always thought of this place as just a deli so I never thought twice about going there for lunch. I was told though that they served Shawerma, which I've been craving since leaving the Bay Area. Excellent Lentil Rice, tasty Shawerma's, decadent desserts, tasty salads (Tabouli). I'm a regular at both the one in Morrisville and in Raleigh.
MUMTAZ! – After spending two months in Jordan and returning to college in NYC, I was horribly disappointed by the lack of good middle eastern food in the New York area. Then, after coming home to Raleigh, I was astonished to find the best arabic food i'd had since Jordan!!!! NC should be proud to have such an amazing example of great middle eastern food, and i only wish they would open up a second location in new york! :-)
Best Hummus anywhere! – I've eaten a lot of hummus, and this is the best...the falafel is just as good and the dolmas are wonderfully fresh and flavorful. This is my favorite place to pick up a picnic lunch! Their pita is unbeatable (try the sesame) and the date mamoul are not to be missed. The remodeling is fabulous and has really made the atmosphere appealing.
not quite like mom makes... – but as close as I'm gonna get outside of home. Everyday a different feature dish, and a great place to eat during a fast. Some great vegan dishes, such as Mjuderra, or rice and lentils. Yummy! Also Mounir (one of the owners) is friendly and helpful. Want some of the latest Arabic music? Or just some hard to find ingredient? Some True Olives? This is the place to go. If you enjoy it, say "Shoe-krahn" on your way out! ("THanks")
Cheap and Tasty – This is a great meal deal where vegetarians can eat just as well as meat-eaters. Everything--from the kibbeh to the hummus to the spinach pies--is worth trying. The baklava and other fresh-baked goodies are heavenly endings to a sweet meal. Before you leave, take home a bag or two of the freshly baked pita bread
