Was talked into buying a car here & it ended up being my biggest regret in life. I'm young & free of any debt with good credit. That all changed when I bought a car at Neill's Wheels in Eugene OR.
I dropped a $1500 down payment on a car that looked great on the inside & outside, aside from the 2 decades of wear it's seen, it was pretty clean... So I thought.
As I was sitting in the office, twiddling my thumbs, about to sign away my hard earned money, I noticed a paper near their wipe-board.
It reads : Green tag on key fob = Ready to go!
: Yellow tag on key fob = Has some issues, but can be showcased.
: Red tag on key fob - DO NOT START. Severe engine issues.
I didn't think much of it when they handed me the key, but it was in the back of my mind.
I start it up & I'm so excited to finally have a vehicle! I drive off the lot & straighten out the steering wheel, only to find out that I'm still turning when it's straight. I immediately connect the dots that the alignment is absolutely shot on this car. (They didn't let me test drive it)
When I arrive home, I check the tread wear to see how bad it really was. These brand new tires had a large bald spot on the inside of the tires upfront. Both of them, just from the botched alignment.
A few days go by & I drive the car once or twice more, noticed a severe stench of gasoline anytime I drove it. The brakes were mushy, the check engine light was on, the heater only worked when you floored it, but even then the car barely had ANY power to get to highway speed.
The air conditioner failed shortly after, the sun visor randomly drops in front of my eyes (I'm 6ft tall) making for an extremely dangerous driving situation.
Passenger window doesn't roll down, headlights were so severely oxidized, I couldn't see at night without high beams on.
After all of this, the car is taken back to Neil, as we hoped to get this solved. The car sat for over 3 months in his shop as I made payments for a car I COULDN'T DRIVE. They still had the car I was paying for. Absolutely disgusting. To make it a bit more interesting, I was told they fixed the fuel leak & in their own words "The car should be safe now" I was sold an unsafe car with a fuel leak. The red tag on their own walls told me they knew exactly what was wrong with that car, but tried to screw me over anyway.
The resolution? Out of the $1500 down payment & 3 months of finance payments, I get a total of $500 & basically a "You can fuck off now" as a resolution... I lost over $1,000 & have no vehicle, they screwed me over & took a majority of my money, so I'm back to square one, not being able to afford a vehicle.
If you check their Facebook page, you can see they made a load of fake reviews for themselves saying how they treat you like family & all this corporate PR lies. They're all made in the same day & by people in other countries with similar framing. You aren't leasing a car in a foreign country & if you are... It ain't from Neil's Steals.
Please, I am begging you. From one decent human to another.
Avoid this lying, scamming, back stabbing, thief. He will take your money & the car. This was the worst mistake of my entire existence.
