No. Just no. OB's like this man are the reason I prefer female OB's. I had an excellent OB, who suggested surgery, but said I could wait a few months to wrap my head around the situation. 4 months went by and unfortunately my original OB is not with Henry Ford any longer. Dr. Simmerman and his team are very caring, down to earth, and they have done a great job taking care of me before, during, and after my surgery as well as during appointments. I highly recommend their clinic and hospital!

This doctor treated me with no respect, was dismissive, and cocky, and barely took the time to really talk to me about treatment options. When I showed up to my procedure, which I was nervous about--since I knew it would be painful, I requested pain management to be an option. He dismissed my concerns and felt uncomfortable when I told him about my worries about dismissal. I luckily refuse the procedure. He is a clear example of OBGYN violence. I highly recommend finding another HFHS specialist if possible, trust me when I say: avoid Dr. Simmerman for OB care. He is extraordinarily dismissive to health concerns, offers very little in terms of bedside manor, and can be incredibly condescending. As a male offering female medical care his level of insensitivity, dismissiveness and "toughen up" attitude (in response to pain complaints) , are alarming to say the least.
