Celebrating someone's life after serving their country is an awesome and honorable thing to do. A lot of that gets pushed by the way side now a days and war and military kind of has this stigma to it. So the aspect of celebrating a service members life is nice and just seeing the community involvement and really honoring someone who has died, even if they served 50 years ago is still great. As an active service member in the United States Navy it's nice to know this still exists within my community.
