1 star for the supporting staff. NT, RN, first ER DR who spoke with me. Finally a rude DR came in to discharge me dismissely. Said I was not in hypertensive crisis & had no symptoms. His “plan” was a fourth of the medication I had been taking & just deal with it till I get back to Alabama. Zero information in WHY my pressure was so high, or any attempt (other than 1 atarax, to bring it down. Done. On return to my son’s home in Pappillion, my pressure was 203/116. So. The most dehumanizing experience I’ve ever had was at your Bellevue UNMC ER. I went in for right-side pain near my kidney, shortness of breath, and dizziness. Over the past two weeks, I’ve struggled to eat and stay hydrated, so I was also severely dehydrated. CT, ultrasound, and blood work came back ‘fine,’ but when I raised concerns about a duplex renal collection system—something noted in my results—I was dismissed. No Issues- Went in on a Saturday Afternoon and had to wait maybe 5 minutes before being taken back for stitches, was taken to a room and then maybe waited another 5 minutes before I saw a nurse, then was saw by the NP that stitched me up and was out of there in no time. Everyone was super nice as well.
Malissa in the ER is the worst! My 16 month old baby with adrenal insufficiency woke up at 5am vomiting several times. In a crying panic, I rushed to the ER, checked in, and we were led to the triage room for Malissa to get my baby's vitals. Baby interrupted the vitals process twice to vomit, and I'd rush to bend him over the sink in that triage room. This visibly upset Malissa.
