NFCU is a very racist organization
the staff in Mesa and Phoenix AZ have always been helpful and pleasant. I have however had problems with speaking to customer service by phone on multiple occasions. I get the feeling that the call center staff aren't on the same level as the staff at the local branches....
NFCU is hands down the best financial institution I've ever banked with. Whether it's in person at this branch, or on the phone with their headquarters, they care about helping you keeping you loyal to their brand.

I have been a member of Navy Federal for 15 years, but for 13 of those years the account was inactive because of lack of accessibility to a branch. Today I walked into the newly opened Mesa Branch and was very pleasantly surprised. It is a stark contrast to every big bank chain I've entered where you are pushed to interact with machines over people, and rushed through any transaction just to get you to go away.
