you don't know till you can't walk any more
Last year my husband Dave Hastings won the Local Hero of the year award! We were flown to Florida and received a brand new town and country van! We can not say enough good about NMEDA and all those who work for them! We were treated like royalty to say the least! Our new van has been such a blessing in our lives, as have the folks from NMEDA!! Thank you still does not seem sufficient! We will forever be grateful to NMEDA for this wonderful accessible van that makes our lives so much easier!
Very disappointed in this organization's handling of our dispute with Eco Medical in Edmonton Alberta. Hand controls were installed in our vehicle on August 17, 2016 and caused an accident the next day, clear video of the problem was provided to the installer and we followed the Insurance adjusters instructions and allowed inspection of the vehicle by two private cause analysis engineers. NMEDA says there is insufficient evidence to decide liability and if we have such a clear cut case why are we wasting our time with them. ... read more
I am very disappointed we worked so hard for votes and got the most in America! Why even have the voting take place if it doesn't matter. Y'all didn't even choose one child. This is our 2nd time in the contest and we won't do it again! Too much effort for votes and they don't count
My friend had the most votes in all of North America and did not qualify for the prize. Why ask for votes if you don't intend on rewarding the person who gets the most votes. This contest was very misleading. Shame on you!!!!

I agree that the most votes should have won the first vehicle since there were 3 winners. Also I agree with the anger of the comment that not one child was chosen. On the list there are 3 "Men" listed but in photo I know that's a "Woman" in middle wheelchair. Am I right?
I love that you have this contest each year. There are so many families that need accessible vans because of wheelchair bound family members including my family (16 year old son that is unable to walk, completely nonverbal, seizure disorder, sleep disorder, numerous surgeries), However, I'm asking that you give this van to Jeanine and her son Nicky because their need is even greater than ours.
