I saw some negative reviews but I had an incredibly smooth experience with National. And I was a walk-up with no reservation. The employees were helpful, efficient, and friendly. The car was nice and the after hours return process was easy. Pricing was transparent and the overall cost was reasonable. When you return, though, set your GPS to 99 H Street NE. That will take you right to the entrance of the parking garage. Good rental experience

I've rented from several car rental companies located at Union Station, and National has been the best by far. The team is quick and efficient, and everyone is always very kind. I've encountered a few issues over the years, like having to wait past my reservation time for a car and being charged for not refilling the tank even though I had, and the team was always very apologetic and eager to make it right. National consistently delivers a high-quality service and they've become my go-to for all car rentals!

I was given a car that was smoked in before. Upon requesting a different vehicle, agent on the counter clearly denied without even checking. I feel like national doesn’t respect when you are using a rental credit, let alone an emerald membership. It was a total waste of my rental credit as I had to drive my family for 8 hours in car that was smoked in where nobody in the family smokes.
