I've seen Dr. Kushnir off and on over several years. Many years ago my UCSF hepatologist insisted that I take steroids for the rest of my life as my liver was in bad shape. I looked up the steroids online and one of the side effects listed was death. When I told Dr. Kushnir, who I had just started seeing, that I didn't want to take steroids, she noted that I could get a second opinion and also said that if I followed her protocol, my liver would heal.
