While Namaste's location in one of the city's lesser visited corners, a little distance away from the city center, is clearly not an advantage, it has slowly, but surely made a name for itself thanks to the excellent fare on offer. The menu has excellent diversity with everything from your favorite pakoras and samosas for appetizers to the popular chicken tikka curry and tandoori specialties. Meat-eaters get an excellent choice in chicken, lamb and seafood preparations while vegetarians are well catered to with a selection o... read more

Indian buffet on Sandy Namaste is a delicious family-owned Indian buffet. The food is fresh, the service is friendly, and there is a huge variety. The lunch buffet is $8 and the dinner is $11. So worth it for the taste and amount of food!
Shunned away.... I first called to see if they are still serving lunch and they said on the phone "Yes, until 4pm, and the price changes" and so I gladly said "I'll be there in 10 minutes". I arrived at 3:44pm and the cashier at the counter told me that I must pay for the dinner price. "I thought it is still lunch prices?" I asked politely, she then said yes but you have to pay for dinner price. Made no sense why she said prices won't change until 4pm but I get there over 15 minutes early to eat one thing and she forces me t... read more
Horrible food quality.
Bad and potentially deadly! – Went in with a friend the other night around 5:30pm. Considering the location I wasn't expecting much but we were both disgustingly underwhelmed. Most of the food on the buffet was cold! Yes, COLD! At that time everything should have been piping hot even if their buffet table isn't working properly. Some of the items were both hot and cold meaning that they had not been properly heated before putting them on the table. On top of the food being potentially deadly, it was just not good! The first ... read more
When my husband and I first moved to Portland from the bay area we searched out all of the Indian restaurants as it is one of our favorite types of foods. When Namaste moved into the old Steamers Restaurant on Sandy we were cautiously excited. And, when they finally opened and we went for the first time we were elated as the food is simply some of the best we have found in Portland and now we eat there at least once a week. They have a buffet for lunch and dinner but if there is something you might like which is not on the b... read more
Not fine dining, but great for a buffet. – I am a fan of good Indian food, and have tried most of the buffets in Portland. I usually have pretty low expectations due to the limitations of the buffet format, but Namaste has raised the bar. I used to go to their Vancouver location, and was always pleased. Their new location is even better. I'm not going to say it's the best in town or that the food is better than most. It isn't. But overall, it is an excellent value for the price, and compared to other buffets in town it rocks... read more
Disappointing experience – First of all, the service was nonexistent. We were not served by a waitperson once after we received our initial pitcher of water. I know it is a self-service buffet place, but we missed being able to order some tea or a glass of wine to drink at least. Second, the food was adequate for buffet food, but it just was not up to par for those who know what excellent Indian food should taste like. Portland has a dearth of good Indian food, sadly, but even so, the food at the tiny "New Taste of Indian" c... read more
Great Indian buffet – I enjoy coming to this buffet, the food and quality is great for a buffet. If it comes down to choosing Chinese buffet and Namaste, Namaste definitely wins. I don't know the names of the dishes, but so far, I've enjoyed all the ones I've tasted. There is a radioactive orange colored chicken dish that I really like. Also, the lamb is delicious! I never eat lamb dishes because I often get pieces of meats that are too gamey for my taste, but the lamb here was awesome.
