Really awful place to live. The crime rate is extremely high. There is vandalism all over the place. The "nature trail" that is right beside the complex is a favorite for the homeless population in Lawrence. Frequently when I walk my dog I see men sleeping along the side of the (very dark, unlit) trail. The management is immature. All "maintenance" is performed by a man who lives in Topeka so good luck with emergency situations. Nice, Quiet, Great location – When I moved back to Lawrence I viewed about 15 apartment complexes before I decided on Naismith Place Apts. I have lived at NPA's for almost a year now and I have really enjoyed my stay. I plan to stay for a couple more years until I graduate and here's why: The condo units are very nice with several upgrades such as modern light fixtures, nice carpet, new appliances, nice cabinets, in unit washer/dryer, etc. Also, this complex offers two bedroom units at a one bedroom unit price. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT – I am aware of the previous issues with this complex, but rest assured that things are changing. The owners have OK'd many upgrades to go into effect immediately. There is a new on-site manager who wants nothing more than to see these units in near perfect condition and rented out. Bear with them during the next few months and you will see a great improvement in quality and tenant morale.
Racist Manager – I moved into the complex several years ago and we had a really nice manager. I'm a quiet tennant , no parties or noise ... I like things nice and quiet. She was a couple of years later replaced by a woman that has no problem letting her adverse hateful opinions be known. She publicly hates white people.I know .. that is so wrong, Right. Her own staff has heard her making racial slurs toward people not african american and repeated it to several tennants. Now I dont care what a persons color or ethnic prefere... read more
