RecommendedAn incredible place, almost magical State park with a lovely ethos.
We were passing through Sarasota last week and impulsively decided to stay at your park for the night. We ended up staying 2 nights because we enjoyed the surroundings and wanted to experience more of what the park had to offer. We would like to give a shout-out to Park Ranger Chris! He was a delight and made our stay much more enjoyable! Hope to be back again someday!
My all time favorite State Park .I have been coming here for 45 years have camped with our children and now our grandchildren...Every time we come here we see something different from flooding to hurricane damage, to drought...I am thankful every time we are able to be here.. And very thankful to all the Park Rangers and Volunteers..Please always respect this land. 2017

The Myakka River is one of my favorite places on earth! I come down from Atlanta twice a year to go there, and it never ceases to amaze me. "Wild and Scenic" river is the perfect description for this place. Since it has been protected so long, it really has gone back to it's wild state. The huge alligators are a bit intimidating when encountered in a small kayak, but that's part of the adventure! Reminds me of Africa. Great camping - waste water dump at site. Clean bathrooms. Big airboat and tram rides were awesome. Excellent experience!
