Less than 12 weeks ago my elderly mother with dementia was placed at a My Choice recommended Assisted Living facility. The transition was very hard,very sad, and very confusing for my mom. Her health suffered. Today, less than 12 weeks later, I received a call stating my mom has to move to another facility because the facility they placed her in hadn't completed all of the requirements for her insurance. One of the worst decisions I've made. Services are sub-standard and second rate. My care team has done NOTHING (other than arranging transportation). They have NOT helped with navigating my care needs. Nothing was clearly explained from the very beginning... like requiring to give up Anthem BC/BS for Molena! I can't see the same docs or other providers (like for PME for example). I have to pick from a MUCH shorter list and even then, they can't provide ANY info about them. Years ago this was a decent MCO for people who needed help, but not anymore. I’m also surprised to learn that Melissa Behnke was a nurse to me at one point, is now Director of Health Care services, when she used to make ridiculous suggestions to me like using Benadryl as a sleep aide! She should be terminated!
I have been working with Andrew at MyChoice the last year and a half. The service with him has been beyond excellent. He promptly answers all of my many questions and has been exceptional to work with. He has made it much easier to navigate assisted living arrangements for my family. He always makes sure I know all choices are left up to me as my family members POA and that if I am ever uncomfortable with a recommendation for a facility, there is no pressure to move forward. My choice is currently and exponentially reducing hours paid to organizations who provide needed and life saving cares for individuals with disabilities. In one instance, literally reducing daily care for a client with cerebral palsy who needs hand over hand help with every daily task to only 8 hours of care per day… several law suits are being drawn up and I hope this greedy corporation gets what they deserve.
