I don't know where our medically complex son would be without the help of Dr. Shaukat and his nurses. We see a large variety of pediatric medical providers in Kansas City that don't even come close to the care we receive at Freeman Pediatrics. Dr. Shaukat remembers our son between appointments, something we rarely get anywhere else. Our son was discharged from the NICU with feeding difficulties and a g-tube. Dr shaukat is our absolute favorite and we are very thankful for him. My daughter was born 6 weeks early and needed a tube when she was 1 month because she was failing to thrive. Every other doctor immediately told us she would need to get a g tube to thrive. But here we are almost a full year with no tube , and she is thriving, eating ,and drinking all on her own all because of Dr shaukats kindness, & knowledge. Didn’t feel heard about the concerned I had for my child. Been getting the same answer over and over for the past two months not getting anywhere. His bedside manner was very POOR.
Not only is his bedside manner lacking, he misdiagnosed my son. I could understand that it takes time to figure out an illness if it was something complicated but constipation is not a new illness. We started seeing the Dr because my son complained of stomach pain often. He tested my son for celiac and a few other things. When they were negative he wrote scripts for anxiety meds and another to decrease the amount his intestines contracted. He saw my son for gastro issues, and he really took the time to listen to my wife and I. He even picked up the phone to speak with my wife about our son. I can't say enough positive things about him, but he really cares about his patients and is very thorough.
