I had a very disappointing experience with MTH Mortgage during my home purchase. Just three days before my scheduled closing date, they confirmed everything was on track—they even sent over my final loan disclosure for signature. Then, later that same day, they reversed course and informed me that we would not be closing as planned and that I needed to secure tenants for my current residence before proceeding. I worked with Carrie Westfall as the preferred lender for a Meritage Homes purchase, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. Communication was consistently poor throughout the process. It often took multiple days to receive a response, and when she did reply, it was frequently late in the day with minimal or vague information. Hundred percent do not ever work with this company. I was involuntarily transitioned to MNT mortgage from Flagstar bank when they were bought out or whatever. It has been an absolute nightmare. They processed my payment sometimes, then randomly don’t process my payment. It has hit my credit twice and every single month is just a stressful scenario of wondering if my mortgage payment is going to go through. I will be refinancing in November and moving away from this company as quickly as I can.
We have been in our Meritage Home for almost 3 months. Pete( Salesman)was helping and responsive at first & it made us feel good with the process. Then we had Yvonne Slaughter (Lending Officer) taking care of everything else. It went smoothly initially. However, Be aware that they are helpful and responsive in the beginning, however if you need something after, you don’t get help from them.
