The policy surrounding security deposits is really sketchy, as the "deposits stay with the house". This means that when someone moves out, the person who moves in pays the deposit directly to the person moving out. You can imagine the complications that could arise with that. For example, if a person moves out with a pet, they won't get reimbursed the pet deposit ($500) until a new pet moves in or the whole house is vacated.
