It’s a great place for a long walk. The "Front Blocks" near the south entrance are the most densely packed with the city's pioneer founders (names like Gale and Van Eps). Keep an eye out for the Catlinite markers. Amidst the granite and quartzite, the deep red of the pipestone really stands out and honors the unique geological history of this region (and the namesake of the stone itself).
UPDATE: I am happy to report that under new board leadership and employees, Mt Pleasant is again a place that we can be proud to call a final resting place for my family. The turn around that has happened since the community has gotten involved and endless volunteer hours put into the grounds shows what wonderful things can happen when neighbors come together! I've been coming to this cemetery since i was a child putting flowers in urns and cleaning the headstones. Something my family just did. Now that my mom lives with me, we have given our area TLC. I see the new staff working hard, cleaning up, picking up and making Mount Plesant the beautiful cemetery it has always been. There is a lot of history in this cemetery.
Mount Pleasant Cemetery has been cleaned up and is run by new people. There is even a new board that has been very active and truly cares. Kudos to all the people in getting things turned around so quickly!
MOUNT PLEASANT CEMETERY IS NEW HANDS AND THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER AND BETTER EVERY DAY! MOVING FORWARD IT WILL BECOME THE WONDERFUL CEMETERY IT ONCE WAS AND THE FAMILIES AND OUR LOVED ONES WILL BE GIVEN THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE.
