The MSU Riley Center for Education and Performing Arts is a beautiful old opera house on the National Register of Historic Places. The theater has been wonderfully maintained, is very intimate, beautifully ornate, and the acoustics are excellent. The staff and security are extremely helpful. It is also in walking distance to several well known and popular restaurants, one of which is Weidmann's, circa 1870. I highly recommend it for a unique concert experience.
I forgot to critique the Wynton Marsalis Band last month. That show was awesome! I hate I didn't buy one of the band's CD's. I saw "Murder on the Nile" this past Friday. The play was actually quite good. The versatility of the actors shown brightly because the three played multiple characters. I suspect the play didn't have the attendance like the Wynton Marsalis Band because it wasn't advertised as heavily. On another note, I have long wished the Riley Center sell mugs. If it did, I'd buy one for a keepsake.
This is a beautiful, gem of a community arts and entertainment venue. The staff is hospitable in every way, and they are pros at making things run smoothly for their guests.
Msu Riley Center has a 4.7 star rating with 485 reviews.
