Restaurants have almost always been a part of the Geitner Family. Bob's parents, Bob and Lorraine owned the Nightingale Restaurant in Sturgeon Bay for over 20 years before purchasing Mr. G's in 1973, known then as Paldora Supper Club and the Fernwood Gardens Ballroom. His son, Bob Jr. Worked for his father for eight years before purchasing the restaurant from his parents in 1981 with his wife, Mary. Bob and Mary raised five children there. Matthew, Mark, Robert, Sarah, and Christopher have worked at the restaurant in some ca... read more

Don't waste your money – Our family visited Mr. G's for dinner in August. It has always been one of our favorite places to eat during our decades of visits to Door County. I had hardly the count the ways how things have changed. The restaurant was nearly empty when our group of five walked in, yet we were inexplicably seated in the table closest next to the bathroom. Our waitress was slow to take our order and mentioned something about how "overwhelmed" she was by the three tables currently seated. When she brought us a bask... read more
Worth a stop! – We head to Door County at least 3 times a year and always swing it to see what is going on at this Supper Club! The bartenders are always entertaining and friendly, usually the owner or one of his sons. The food is always amazing. It is like comfort food... always hits the spot, and you always leave the place happy! If it is busy, you sit at the bar and watch the people around - always entertaining. Worth the stop, and worth the wait.
Great place in Door County – Great service, friendly and accommodating. I've been to a wedding there, and ate in the main dining room many times. The wedding was served family style and all the food was hot when it got to our table. We did not have any issues with the service but noticed we did not recognize many of the staff. The main dining room staff is very experienced and pleasant. They do a great job for everything they have to do. Unlike at many other places, they do not have someone to run the food or set the tables,... read more
Did not want to serve Black customers – I went to a wedding at Mr. G.'s on October 17, 2009. As the waitress was serving the salads, I noticed that everyone around me, on the side of me, in the back of me were served their salads, but my table was not. Once the waitress looked over, I guess she decided to serve my table. There were only five people at my table, she served the white customers first. Then, alas, she served my salad but did not give my daughter a salad. I had to ask for one for my daughter. The same thing happe... read more
Worst Dinning Experience Ever – Made a reservation for 16 + 1 baby. When we arrived there was no high chair set up and no where to put one... the waitress suggested I set my child away from the table by himself. We ended up splitting up our group to accommodate my 15mo old child. Waitress was not friendly at all. Glasses were chipped. At one point my child was screaming (not continuous and not that loudly), keep in mind this is a pub/restaurant not a country club... I was trying to get him calmed down. I didn't realize it wa... read more
Best Food in Wisconsin – The food was spectacular, and the service was excellent; my waitress Christina was an absolute peach, so sweet and always smiling. The bartender Patty, whom I have seen there since I started going, always has a lively conversation going and serves an array of drinks. Bob and Mary are the proud owners of Mr. Gs, and both have been working there for 25 years. It is a warm, quaint place, with a real fire going all winter long. I have been going there for about 11 years, and it is always the same faces y... read more
One of the best... – I have been a guest at Mr. G's Supper Club numerous times throughout all my years of vacationing in Door County and have not one complaint. The food is some of the best in Door County and I must say the same for the service as well. I was extemely disturbed by the poor comments reguarding this fine establishment. Anytime you visit the peninsula for a week or just a weekend, be sure to stop and enjoy one of Door County's landmarks. I promise you won't be disappointed.
dinner theatre is great; food is poor – The attached dinner theatre is wonderful, highly recommend. However, avoid eating directly at the Mr. G dining hall. I have made 3 trips to the dining hall in 18 months. Poor service each time. Its close to my cottage but will avoid in future. Service is terrible, food is only OK. If you looking for poor service it consitantly poor. Unfriendly attitute, slow with serving, slow with water refills.
