I read some reviews from people who wanted the Ritz while booking a minimalist hotel. I get what this place is and can roll with it. But… a couple of things: the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory beds are not bad, BUT, they need to install thicker curtains. The street lights shone in pretty brightly. And it was cold. Like the window panes are not doing much to prevent the cold from coming in. My bed was against the window and I was freezing. And I am someone who doesn’t ever say that. The food is meh. Quirky hotel. Comfortable rooms. Great lobby/bar area and complimentary coffee in the mornings (also a Starbucks on 1st floor.) Location however is about .7 miles from King Street shopping and restaurants. It is close to the law school. So despite it saying ‘downtown Charleston’, it’s a walk that didn’t feel particularly safe. Does have a great rooftop patio on floor 6.
Not one to leave a bad review but this place is a joke and a dump it’s a glorified holiday in, charging $500 a night is outrageous, service was terrible. A drunk women somehow got into our room refused to leave called security they never came, there aren’t closets there aren’t safes it’s legit a hostile charging outrageous prices for what it is
when i made my reservation I was not sent a confirmation, the total charge was attempted to be charge on my card. My bank flagged it as fraud, I followed up with and tried to see if I indeed made a reservation...they couldn't find it. I decided to stay somewhere else and I had to cancel that card...total pain! beware if you're booking on line/phone!
