Move As A Human is like home. I’ve been training with Elise and implementing Functional Patterns for about a year now at both the old location, and now, at the new, much bigger, facility in Birmingham. I’m always happy to see her, learn new movement sequences, and find ways to correct, adjust, and recalibrate my movement patterns. The weekly addition of group classes in the larger space has been great since it offers multiple movements in circuit fashion, while still having some level of correction and guidance from the prac... read more

I have 10 years of weightlifting experience, and within one hour working with Joe I could feel muscles in my body working more than they have ever before. Functional Patterns is the best training I’ve ever done! I also highly recommend trying out their group classes! The exercises Vic had us do really had me feeling amazing afterwards. A great workout with the purpose of improving my movement. Can’t beat it!

Joe Stafford changed my life. When I met Joe from Move as a Human back in December 2023, I was in constant, debilitating pain—neck, back, everything. I had tried everything and reached a point of hopelessness. What I didn’t realize then was just how little I actually knew about how to take care of my body. Fast forward 15 months, and I’m now 99.99% pain-free. The only time pain creeps back in is when I stop doing what Functional Patterns taught me to do. Joe is a genius—plain and simple. His understanding of the human body a... read more

There are practitioners and there are masters of their craft/true healers. Victor is most definitely in this second category. I found Move As A Human after four years of struggling with a nerve condition that was progressively getting worse and was beginning to take over my life. First I lost the ability to sit, then to do daily household chores, and finally this summer, I couldn't turn my head without pins and needs and nerve pain shooting down my left leg. I had been to three surgeons, two D.O.'s and through four rounds of... read more

I started going to Move as a Human three years ago after signing up at the Birmingham Farmer's Market. They teach a discipline called Functional Patterns, which promotes healthy, full body movement exercises. I really believe in it. The staff here are highly knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The new facility is nice and clean, with really good equipment. I highly recommend.
