This place needs to come to NJ. My husband and I loved it so much we went two days in a row. The food here is truly next level and made with so much care and love. We knew we didn't want to go to one of those tourist trap restaurants. I googled "best lunch in Newport" and Mountain Moose came up. We both had noodle dishes and the owner was so kind to give us a couple apps on the house when we came back the next day. She even said that they use real crab for their crab rangoon. As a lover of Thai food, I can assure you that this is the place to go in Newport. We were hesitant to go out of fear it was another touristy restaurant on Thames street, but it was easily some of the best food I’ve ever had. It’s family owned and they are very generous with the portions and the flavor was creative and delicious. I recommend every item that we ordered: the bao buns, spicy pad Thai, khao soi, and the chive bites!
I don’t know how this restaurant does not have five stars. Everything about this place is amazing from the food, the staff and just the overall layout of the restaurant. The staff are incredibly nice and always make sure you are having a good time. I’ve been here multiple times and I think the highlight dish is their build your own bowl. I’ve gotten it multiple times and I’ve always loved the variety they provide. If you want a restaurant with good food service and staff then the Mountain Moose is THE place to go.
Plant based family ate here with my mother on vacation. Kids are picky eaters but devoured their ramen. My mother generally dislikes Asian food but was blown away by the orange chicken — crispy and well sauced without becoming soggy. Lastly, You can taste and smell the freshness in every bite! Staff were prompt and helpful, and the place had a casual, familial vibe focused on great food without the pretense. 10/10.
