7 out of 7 previous negative nightclub reviews – We saw that Strata had negative reviews for its nightclub scene out of every previous review on Citysearch, yet chalked it up to isolated incidents. Looks like the staff hasn't changed – While the venue itself is setup nicely, the staff is completely horrible. I am friends with a promoter and had a guestlist for my birthday. We arrived at 11pm and waited on line until about 12 before they started letting anyone in. Out of the 50 people in my party (mostly females also), they allowed 5 in at first. TERRIBLE ATTITUDE STAFF!!!!!!!!!!! – This place's staff members are total jerks. From the moment you set foot into the place, the doorman greets you and gives you commands. Although they carry some high end liquor, they do not know how to make cocktails. The staff members were really doing a great job sabotaging the image of the place by treating customers like that. Bad Service, Fun Place – Strata. It needs a slight makeover not with the beautiful interior, but with the ugly exterior composed of snotty bouncers and stuck up promoters. The place is not worth the $20 cover for men and its best if you can get in on a guest list of some short. Enjoy the music and the expensive booze.
Horrible!!! – We are visiting new york and were looking for a little casual nightlife. The dj sucked. The frisker was over the top and made our whole group feel uncomfortable. We had no idea why there were so many people inside. We tried to enjoy ourselves dancing but the dj had no idea what he was doing.

What a disappointment! – Though the place itself was alright inside, the service at the door makes it NOT worth the hassle. Please Go Out of Business Soon. – I can't comment on the restaurant as I didn't go there for dinner but I would like to opine about customer service (or severe lackthereof) with regards to the nightclub. Despite the fact that a friend of mine had spoken with the manager and promoter to organize a b'day party there with an advertised open from 10-11, our entire group (which got there promptly at 9:30) was forced to wait online for no reason whatsoever (the place was EMPTY inside) in the freezing cold. KAPHAN IS A MASTER AT HIS CRAFT! – Strata's new Chef Mike Kaphan is truly amazing. My family enjoyed him at Zoe in SOHO, and when we learned he had taken the reigns at Strata we just had to check it out. I suppose you would call it comfort food, Strata does not disappoint, and Kaphan adds yet another notch to his already impressive career. Remember to try his signature Ceasar Salad, it's a thing of beauty.
