Steph was everything we could have hoped for in a doula and more. Her caring, sensitivity, knowledge, humour, calm, groundedness, grace, and deep compassion were a ballast when we navigated pregnancy and the postpartum period as (very anxious) first-time parents. Babywearing session with Dee was amazing! We went over all my questions and then some, took the time to make sure I was really comfortable and all.on all had a grand morning
I did not have a great experience, as my doula was not very helpful and I would not hire her again. During labour, when I had very intense contractions without a break in between, she told me that something seemed to be wrong, which put me into a fight-or-flight mindset where the whole labour and delivery I was very afraid something was wrong. Posting on behalf of my wife: As a first time mom I was very nervous about giving birth. Iliana was amazing with helping me understand my birth values and then supporting me (and my husband) physically and emotionally during the birth. She squeezed my hips in the shower for hrs and made me feel safe and relaxed when the doctors were unfamiliar my birth preferences. The Zoom birth prep class was an incredibly thorough and educational package. Delivered with great sensitivity and openness to less conventional options, while remaining clearly based in science, evidence, and a total emphasis on the empowerment of choice. Really recommend the non-birthing partner watches along too!
