Got a comprehensive pre-trip check done before a 10k km trip to Cape York in my Disco 1. The advisories were bang on and I did some fixes before I left. A follow up call with Malcolm was useful and he also kindly offered to provide phone assistance if needed while I was away - but fortunately not needed. Recommended.
Didn't proceed with work. I'm making an assumption that mechanic thought a 78 yo who was on his 3rd LR disco had no knowledge of costings. Was quoted $800 too S&F replacement rear height sensor: 2021 had opposite side S&F in Melbourne ( whose not a cheap mechanic) for $360. Yes prices have gone up but not double. Also, asked about possiblity of S&F starter motor, Don't assume you whisper on the phone to your supplier, "it can be after market's and then quote $1700. Not all 78yo are deaf.
