The Moore family started the sawmill and lumber business about 1875. The first two generations operated it as a portable sawmill using horses in the wood to skid logs and a stem boiler and steam engine to run the sawmill. The steam facility was finally today. Ivan Moore operated two portable sawmills in addition to the steam mill until 1969.
