I loved my experience here. The dish I ordered was especially good, super creamy, fresh pasta, good service — I would come back in a heartbeat.

Now I want to move to San Diego… and we live in Los Angeles with a great food scene as well. All the food was amazing. The fungi pasta, calamari, zucchini… Did you ever try a sauce that you could eat even with no main dish? I did. Here in Monello. I don’t know what magic spell they use on their garlic aioli and tomato sauces, but I’m definitely charmed. Delicious Italian food. Ordered the Monello Pizza and Monello Pasta sauce on pappardelle pasta and it was amazing. Very flavorful, hearty sauce. Visited on a Saturday night and while most other restaurants were booked out completely, we were seated here within 15 minutes of waiting without a reservation. Sat outside which was perfectly fine with the mild San Diego evening temperatures, but the people and cars driving by were loud and distracting. Monello is a must-visit if you’re a pasta lover. The pasta here tastes incredibly fresh and the quality really shows in every bite. The absolute must-order is the cheese wheel pasta, the flavor is rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. If you’re in the mood for great Italian and freshly made pasta, Monello definitely delivers. A spot I’d happily come back to.

Very good Italian food. Very cheesy. The calamari and the breaded chicken with mash is excellent. The saffron spaghetti was finished in a cheese wheel (see images). Service is good but the food overall did not standout for the price paid.
