I do not recommend for newborn blood tests. My daughter and son-in-law took their 5 day old (6 lb) daughter for a bilirubin blood draw this afternoon and the experience was awful. This was done twice in the hospital (Mercy One - Genesis East campus) with no issues, just a simple heel prick after warmed with heat pad. Today the lab tech was a trainee who had not done this procedure before and the "more experienced" tech with her was little to no help in coaching her through the procedure. My son with autism needed to have a few labs done and we initially went to the bettendorf location where the plobotomist refused to do it and told us we needed to come back during the week. We then went to the moline location where we were treated with dignity and respect. Both phlobotomist there were extremely patient and compassionate with my son allowing him to have a very good experience.
You truly never know what you're going to get when you come here. I've mostly had no issues, but like I said, you just never know. I went to pick up a test kit, I was told to "ask the guy when he comes out, he'll get it," this woman was trying to leave for 10 minutes. He comes out and takes someone else that was watching loud and completely inappropriate videos with her legs over the chair arms. He yelled, "Well she's a timed draw!" Pathetic, lazy employees in the lab department...I will never be back.
Wait time getting ridiculously long. If some of the workers walked any slower they would not be moving
