With its witty Pop Art décor, the small, playfully designed Moderne has a decidedly youthful appeal. Reproductions of Andy Warhol's famous portrait of Marilyn Monroe hang in each room. Furnishings are simple and functional. The blond maple upholstered headboards have built-in night tables, and splashes of color are everywhere. A glass-filled, sunny second-floor lounge serves as both a breakfast area and reading room. There is an alarm clock, hairdryer and ironing board in every room. Get directionsUnfriendly, Unclean – Rude, impolite, and disagreeable manager. Lifeless, lazy front desk staff. Unkempt, dirty room. Would NEVER recommend.
What a dump! – First room they put me in had a window that didn't lock so I asked for another room which they gave me. HOWEVER, the decor in the room was shabby and worn out, no cable TV and no hot water in the bathroom. Room was very dark and dreary with a view of a brick wall. Yes, the location is great but there are MUCH nicer hotels in the area.
Location is everything – We were close to everything. The room was clean comfortable, and everthing worked. The bed was large the TV was small, so what, you are in New York.... We were rarely in the room anyway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even brought ice to our room. Our view was a brick wall, but it cut the noise. Nice view of the street from the comfortable room where there was always hot coffee.
Location is the key to NYC! – We loved it! A group of us needed a centrally located hotel. We found the Moderne Hotel online. Right away it looked groovy. The setting is early 60s. The rooms were clean and the staff helped us find restaurants in the area. The subway was close as well as Time Square and Central Park. Rooms were small but who cares it was a place to throw the luggage and crash after a night on the town. My review is if you want something close thats inexpensive and clean this is the place. The Jetsons meet Warhol in Manhattan. – The Scene Chic, sleek and stylish best describe this small Midtown property. With just 34 rooms, the hotel is intimate and cozy, and the knowledgeable staff looks to personally accommodate every guest. From the small lobby furnished with space-age lounge chairs to the second-floor breakfast room, which boasts atom-looking ceiling lamps, it's hard not to feel "moderne" at this place. The Details All rooms feature low-to-the-ground king-sized beds. The decoration--congruent with the rest... read more
mr – don't waste your money on this hotel. service terrible when i complained did not help. nothing works. told them i wanted to check out early they charged me $50 fee. also rooms very noisy. you can hear street sounds all night..
Looks Fabuous, but not functional – Elevator was broken, I was told the bags would be brought up to my room , after being there for 20 minutes I called to see what happened and was told they would be brought up when the elevator was fixed. I was only on the second floor!! I was told if I wanted my luggage brought up before the elevator was fixed I would have to go get it myself. The room aesthetically was great! One morning I couldnt get hot water and had to take a cold shower. The instructions on the phone from the "Amsterd... read more
