favorite LOVE LOVE LOVE modern. I have been going here for years. Everyone does a great job and it feels like home for a couple hours. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. The stylists are very knowledgeable and extremely talented. I have never had a bad haircut here. it is a little pricey...but it is worth EVERY dollar. ugg AVOID AT ALL COSTS LITERALLY My color was a job my kids could of done at home, this salon is overpriced and a complete let down. My highlights WERE AWFUL. I WENT TO ANOTHER SALON and I am HAPPY TO SAY PERFECT. This salon should close down it is over rated.

nasty manager at Ballantyne Ballantyne manager was very nasty with customers and there was no need for it. Showed her inexperience.

Avoid at all cost(literally) I have never been to a place such as this. I always thought modern was a very high end salon because they seem to charge out the hole but I was shown differently. I walked in and I was going in to get my hair highlighted and cut. The stylist took me back 30 min late and told me that she could only do the highlights because she didn't have time to do the rest and that she would comp me next time. Just the cut I've been looking for! I have been trying forever to get a certain haircut and have never had anyone listen well enough to do what I want. Poor haircut and annoying stylist I almost never write a negative review, but this haircut hurt. I had to get a haircut for my wedding so the stakes were pretty high. I knew better than to wait until the last minute, but things got kinda busy. I went on a Saturday morning and wanted to get in and out so that I could get some things done. I show up on time and have to wait 20 minutes. Then the stylist wants to talk about marriage, weddings, etc. the whole time. Best haircut and color I've had in years... Meghan L. at the Phillips Place location is amazing! I loved my cut and color and got a ton of compliments on it. I travel to Phillips Place from my office uptown just so I can have Meghan do my hair. I would recommend her and Modern Salon to anyone.

Terrible 1st Impression My brother and I bought our mother a very expensive gift package for Mother's day, which ended up being a nigthmare. My mother's experience was terrible! She didn't get the appropriate massages she requested, the service was horrendous (the workers forgot about her in the lounge area, where she waited an hour before someone realized where she was), and on top of the subpar facials etc, they asked her to pay extra as she was leaving. It was a very unpleasant experience, so avoid it if you can...

great choice I'm new to the Charlotte area and was leary about going someplace different to get my hair done. All fears were put to rest with this salon. Eu-Jin did a magnificent job - gave me a great cut that is easy to manage and the highlights and lowlights look terrific. It's expensive but no more so than just about any other reputable place. There's also no pressure to buy their products.
