Miramar Household Hazardous Waste Facility is great. Made an appointment ahead of time to drop off household generated sharps and it was so easy. Due to budget cuts, you can't drop off sharps at any of the San Diego police station kiosks. So easy to make an appointment and drop off here.
In 2026, residential waste no electronics was $80 for a cargo van dump, $160 for box truck. My options are Otay landfill (which doesn't post its prices) or SD public dump. I had no complaints about the dump. For a dump, it's clean and doesn't smell awful. We went during hot summer, not during rains. Perhaps different season is different? I had never had questions regarding staff. My buddy's Chula Vista ID did not qualify for discounted resident rates. Flat fee for truck load of yard dirt and lots of odds and ends. Quick, well organized.
This is a great dump. You can dispose of literally anything here. They do not care. It's a dump. Be sure to check out the restrooms! You will not regret it. Probably the highest quality dump restrooms on the west coast. Another tip: bring a good flashlight, long pants, and hiking boots. In order to dispose of your goods, you will need to scale the mountain of trash, placing your items at the summit (currently approximately 6,000' MSL).
