Don’t be stupid, Help the People! Cancelling rent is literally the best way to secure what should be a basic human right in our modern world and for an organization that it supposed to be helping people the original quote was an incredibly crass thing to have said. Do better.

Insulting the poor folks struggling to pay rent in the middle of the pandemic by calling them stupid. Disgusting.

I am appalled that MN Housing leadership would call people "stupid" for not being able to pay rent during this pandemic (or any time). True leadership takes compassion and innovation and finding solutions. Housing was already a crisis, and now with the massive unemployment due to COVID, it's even worse. Housing is a human right! Let's find solutions, not call masses of workers - many of whom are keeping you fed and cared for during this pandemic - "stupid".
